For the first time, a special community event will be held at Grand Century Mall through a collaboration between the San Jose Sharks and the Story Road Business Association.
The event will mark the official introduction of new street banners sponsored by the Sharks that will soon be displayed along Story Road as part of a broader effort to strengthen connections with the local community.
The program, titled “Give Ball Hockey A Try,” will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Grand Century Mall in San Jose. The event aims to introduce families and young participants to the sport of ball hockey while creating a fun and welcoming community atmosphere.
Event schedule
- 10:00 AM: Check-in and registration
- 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Ball hockey instruction and practice session
Participants will receive:
- A wearable Sharks practice pinnie
- A Sharks-branded ball hockey stick and ball
- One hour of introductory instruction
Organizers note that registration should only be completed for those directly participating in the activity. Spectators are welcome and do not need to RSVP.
In preparation for the event, Friends of VietTan Club will assist in decorating the surrounding area by displaying traditional yellow heritage flags around Grand Century Mall and along Story Road, helping create a vibrant and meaningful atmosphere for this community sports celebration.
The event reflects ongoing efforts to bring together local businesses, sports organizations, and community groups in San Jose while encouraging youth participation in sports and healthy outdoor activities.

Lần đầu tiên, một sự kiện thể thao cộng đồng đặc biệt sẽ được tổ chức tại Grand Century Mall thông qua sự phối hợp giữa đội khúc côn cầu San Jose Sharks và Story Road Business Association.
Đây cũng là dịp để đội Sharks chính thức giới thiệu những lá phướn mới sẽ được treo dọc theo đường Story Road, do chính đội Sharks bảo trợ như một phần trong nỗ lực tăng cường gắn kết với cộng đồng địa phương.
Chương trình mang tên “Give Ball Hockey A Try” sẽ diễn ra vào Thứ Bảy, ngày 14 tháng 3 năm 2026 tại Grand Century Mall, San Jose. Sự kiện nhằm giới thiệu môn ball hockey đến với các gia đình và thanh thiếu niên, đồng thời tạo nên một ngày hội thể thao cộng đồng vui tươi và thân thiện.
Lịch trình chương trình
- 10:00 sáng: Ghi danh / Check-in
- 10:30 sáng – 11:30 sáng: Hướng dẫn và tập chơi Ball Hockey
Những người tham gia sẽ được:
- Nhận áo tập (pinnie) để mặc khi chơi
- Nhận gậy hockey và bóng mang thương hiệu Sharks
- Được hướng dẫn căn bản trong vòng 1 giờ
Ban tổ chức lưu ý rằng việc ghi danh chỉ dành cho những người trực tiếp tham gia hoạt động. Những người đến xem không cần ghi danh trước.
Để chuẩn bị cho sự kiện này, Friends of VietTan Club sẽ hỗ trợ trang trí khu vực tổ chức bằng cách treo cờ vàng truyền thống quanh Grand Century Mall và dọc theo đường Story Road, góp phần tạo nên một không khí sinh động và đầy ý nghĩa cho ngày hội thể thao cộng đồng này.
Sự kiện được kỳ vọng sẽ góp phần kết nối các doanh nghiệp địa phương, các tổ chức cộng đồng và cư dân trong khu vực San Jose, đồng thời khuyến khích thanh thiếu niên tham gia các hoạt động thể thao lành mạnh.
