Health officials are warning that a new H3N2 subclade flu variant circulating this season may be linked to more severe illness, particularly among high-risk populations.
According to experts, this H3N2 strain appears to be driving a significant portion of current flu cases and may lead to more intense symptoms, higher hospitalization rates, and longer recovery times compared to some previous flu strains. Children, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems are considered most vulnerable.
Doctors report an increase in patients experiencing high fever, severe fatigue, respiratory complications, and secondary infections such as pneumonia. While the current flu vaccine still offers protection, officials note that vaccine effectiveness can vary by strain and individual health factors.
Health authorities are urging the public to take flu symptoms seriously, seek medical care early if symptoms worsen, and consider antiviral medications, which are most effective when started shortly after illness begins. Giới chức y tế đang cảnh báo về một biến thể cúm H3N2 mới (subclade) đang lưu hành trong mùa cúm năm nay, có khả năng gây bệnh nặng hơn, đặc biệt đối với các nhóm nguy cơ cao.
Theo các chuyên gia, chủng H3N2 này chiếm tỷ lệ đáng kể trong các ca cúm hiện tại và có thể dẫn đến triệu chứng nghiêm trọng hơn, tỷ lệ nhập viện cao hơn và thời gian hồi phục kéo dài so với một số chủng cúm trước đây. Trẻ em, người cao tuổi và những người có hệ miễn dịch suy giảm được xem là dễ bị ảnh hưởng nhất.
Các bác sĩ cho biết số bệnh nhân có triệu chứng sốt cao, mệt mỏi nghiêm trọng, biến chứng đường hô hấp và nhiễm trùng thứ phát như viêm phổi đang gia tăng. Dù vắc-xin cúm hiện tại vẫn có tác dụng bảo vệ, hiệu quả có thể khác nhau tùy theo chủng virus và tình trạng sức khỏe từng người.
