San José police are investigating a triple homicide after three people were shot and killed overnight in a South San Jose neighborhood, officials said. Officers responded to multiple emergency calls just before 12:30 a.m. reporting shots fired and a woman screaming for help on the 200 block of Chynoweth Avenue.

When officers arrived, they located an adult female outside the residence with at least one gunshot wound; she was transported to a hospital and later died. Inside the home, police found two additional victims — a second female and a male — who were also fatally shot. Authorities said the suspect had already fled the scene and no arrests had been made at the time of initial reports.

Local news outlets reported the incident occurred in the Oak Grove area of South San Jose, and investigators were canvassing the neighborhood and following up on leads. Police have not released the identities of the victims or a motive as the investigation remains active.
