A suspected bank robber was arrested less than one hour after attempting to rob a bank in San Jose, demonstrating how modern surveillance technology is increasingly used by law enforcement to respond quickly to crime.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the 3000 block of Meridian Avenue when the suspect handed a teller a handwritten note demanding money.

The suspect fled the bank without obtaining cash before police arrived.

Witness descriptions and vehicle information allowed investigators at the San Jose Police Department’s Real Time Intelligence Center to identify the suspect using city surveillance cameras and automated license plate reader technology.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Great Oaks Parkway and San Ignacio Avenue.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Ryan Gress, was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on attempted robbery charges.

City officials said the case demonstrates how technology can help police respond more quickly to criminal activity and protect the public.

Nghi phạm được xác định là Ryan Gress, 41 tuổi, đã bị đưa vào nhà tù quận hạt Santa Clara với cáo buộc cố ý cướp ngân hàng.
