San Jose, CA — The Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose is set to officially reopen to the public with a Grand Re-Opening Ceremony on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM, located at 1300 Senter Rd, San Jose, CA 95112.
Hosted by the Office of Councilmember Bien Doan, the event marks the long-awaited return of one of the city’s cherished cultural landmarks. The reopening comes after years of restoration efforts following damage from the 2017 floods.
The ceremony will introduce the newly constructed Taiko Bashi bridge, a key highlight of the revitalized garden. With the return of water to the ponds and the presence of koi fish, the garden is once again being restored to its tranquil and scenic beauty.
The event celebrates cultural heritage, community, and the enduring spirit of friendship — reflecting the long-standing sister city relationship between San Jose and Okayama, Japan, as well as the contributions of the Japanese American community.

San Jose, CA — Vườn Nhật (Japanese Friendship Garden) tại thành phố San Jose sẽ chính thức mở cửa trở lại với Lễ Khai Trương vào Chủ Nhật, ngày 3 tháng 5 năm 2026, lúc 12 giờ trưa, tại địa chỉ 1300 Senter Rd, San Jose, CA 95112.
Buổi lễ do văn phòng Nghị viên Biên Đoàn tổ chức, đánh dấu sự trở lại của một địa điểm văn hóa quen thuộc sau nhiều năm được tu sửa kể từ trận lũ năm 2017.
Một điểm nhấn của lần mở cửa này là cây cầu Taiko Bashi mới được xây dựng. Cùng với việc đưa nước trở lại các hồ và sự xuất hiện của những đàn cá koi, khu vườn đang dần được khôi phục lại vẻ đẹp thanh bình vốn có.
Sự kiện lần này mang ý nghĩa tôn vinh di sản văn hóa, cộng đồng, và tinh thần gắn kết lâu dài — đồng thời phản ánh mối quan hệ kết nghĩa giữa thành phố San Jose và Okayama (Nhật Bản), cũng như những đóng góp đáng trân trọng của cộng đồng người Mỹ gốc Nhật tại địa phương.
