SAN JOSE, California – On the morning of June 19, 2026, veterans of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), military families, community leaders, elected officials, and local residents gathered at the Vietnamese Heritage Garden in San Jose to commemorate the 61st Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Vietnam.
The ceremony was organized by the Joint Military Branches Association of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces, including representatives from the Navy, Marine Corps, Ranger Forces, and Red Beret Families, with the participation of the Thu Duc Reserve Officers Association of Northern California and numerous Vietnamese American community organizations.
The event began with the presentation of the flags of the United States and the Republic of Vietnam, followed by a moment of silence honoring the military personnel and civilians who sacrificed their lives in the defense of freedom and democracy in South Vietnam.
Serving as Master of Ceremonies, Navy Veteran Le Thai Phuc guided the program with dignity and professionalism, helping ensure the ceremony reflected the traditions and values of the former Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces.
One of the highlights of the event was a historical presentation by Retired Lieutenant Colonel Bui Duc Lac, who spoke about the origins and significance of Armed Forces Day, observed annually on June 19. He reflected on the service, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who served in the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces and emphasized the importance of preserving their legacy for future generations.
Representing the City of San Jose, Councilmember Bien Doan addressed attendees and expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by ARVN veterans and their families. He also presented certificates of recognition and commemorative honors to veterans and military organizations in acknowledgment of their service and contributions to the Vietnamese American community.
The ceremony was further honored by the presence of representatives from elected officials at the City, County, State, and Federal levels, who delivered proclamations, certificates, and messages of appreciation recognizing the enduring contributions of ARVN veterans and the Vietnamese refugee community.
A special segment of the program featured the presentation of appreciation gifts to ARVN veterans, generously sponsored by Air Force Veteran Le Van Hai. The gifts served as a small but heartfelt token of gratitude to those who dedicated their youth and, in many cases, sacrificed greatly in defense of freedom.
The event was made possible in part through the support of Organization of Anonymous Contributors (OAC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving seniors, families, and underserved members of the Vietnamese American community. OAC volunteers assisted with various aspects of the event and helped ensure its success.
In addition to the formal ceremony, attendees enjoyed a cultural and entertainment program that celebrated Vietnamese heritage and community spirit. Among the performances was a lively presentation of the traditional Vietnamese folk dance “Trong Com” (Rice Drum Dance) by members of OAC, which was warmly received by the audience and added a joyful cultural dimension to the day’s commemorative activities.
Throughout the ceremony, veterans from different branches of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam had the opportunity to reunite, share memories, and honor fallen comrades. For many attendees, the gathering was not only a remembrance of military service but also a reaffirmation of the values of freedom, democracy, and gratitude that continue to unite the Vietnamese American community.
More than five decades after the fall of South Vietnam, Armed Forces Day remains one of the most meaningful commemorations for Vietnamese communities throughout the world. It serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who fought for freedom and as an opportunity to educate younger generations about the history, resilience, and contributions of Vietnamese refugees and their descendants.
The ceremony concluded at noon in a spirit of remembrance, unity, and gratitude, honoring the legacy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam and ensuring that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

SAN JOSE, California – Sáng ngày 19 tháng 6 năm 2026, đông đảo cựu quân nhân Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa, gia đình quân nhân, các hội đoàn, các vị dân cử cùng đồng hương đã tề tựu tại Vườn Truyền Thống Việt (Vietnamese Heritage Garden) để tham dự Lễ Kỷ Niệm Ngày Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa lần thứ 61.
Buổi lễ do Liên Quân Binh Chủng Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa, Hải Quân, Thủy Quân Lục Chiến, Biệt Động Quân và Gia Đình Mũ Đỏ đảm trách tổ chức, với sự tham gia của Lực Lượng Sĩ Quan Thủ Đức Bắc California cùng nhiều tổ chức cộng đồng người Việt tại Bắc California.
Mở đầu chương trình là nghi thức chào quốc kỳ Việt Nam Cộng Hòa và Hoa Kỳ, phút mặc niệm để tưởng nhớ các quân, dân, cán, chính đã hy sinh vì tự do và chính nghĩa quốc gia.
Điều hợp chương trình là Hải Quân Lê Thái Phúc, người đã hướng dẫn buổi lễ diễn ra trong bầu không khí trang nghiêm, trọng thể và đầy tình chiến hữu.
Trong phần diễn văn chính, Cựu Trung Tá Bùi Đức Lạc đã trình bày về lịch sử và ý nghĩa của Ngày Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa 19 tháng 6. Ông nhắc lại những chặng đường chiến đấu đầy gian khổ của Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa, đồng thời ghi nhận sự hy sinh của hàng triệu quân nhân đã dành cả tuổi trẻ để bảo vệ tự do cho miền Nam Việt Nam.
Đại diện chính quyền địa phương, Nghị viên Biên Đoàn đã phát biểu bày tỏ lòng tri ân đối với các cựu quân nhân Việt Nam Cộng Hòa và gia đình quân nhân. Ông nhấn mạnh những đóng góp to lớn của cộng đồng người Việt tị nạn đối với thành phố San Jose và trao các bằng tưởng niệm, bằng vinh danh đến các tổ chức quân đội cùng những cá nhân có nhiều đóng góp cho cộng đồng.
Buổi lễ còn có sự hiện diện của đại diện các vị dân cử thuộc cấp Thành phố San Jose, Quận hạt Santa Clara, Tiểu bang California và Quốc hội Hoa Kỳ, mang theo các bằng tưởng lục, bằng khen và lời chúc mừng gửi đến các cựu quân nhân cùng ban tổ chức nhân Ngày Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa.
Một phần đầy ý nghĩa của chương trình là lễ tri ân và trao quà đến các cựu quân nhân Việt Nam Cộng Hòa, do Không Quân Lê Văn Hải bảo trợ. Những phần quà tuy khiêm tốn nhưng thể hiện lòng biết ơn sâu sắc đối với những người đã hy sinh tuổi trẻ, hạnh phúc cá nhân và nhiều năm tháng cuộc đời để phục vụ lý tưởng tự do.
Buổi lễ năm nay cũng nhận được sự bảo trợ và hỗ trợ từ Organization of Anonymous Contributors (OAC), một tổ chức thiện nguyện hoạt động tích cực trong các chương trình phục vụ cộng đồng người Việt tại Bắc California. Sự đồng hành của OAC đã góp phần giúp chương trình được tổ chức chu đáo và thành công tốt đẹp.
Bên cạnh phần nghi lễ chính thức, chương trình còn có những tiết mục văn nghệ góp phần tạo không khí thân tình và gắn kết giữa các thế hệ. Đặc biệt, các thành viên của OAC đã trình diễn điệu múa dân gian “Trống Cơm”, mang đến những tràng pháo tay nồng nhiệt từ quan khách và đồng hương tham dự. Tiết mục không chỉ góp phần làm phong phú chương trình mà còn thể hiện nét đẹp văn hóa truyền thống Việt Nam trong một ngày mang ý nghĩa tưởng niệm và tri ân.
Trong suốt buổi lễ, các cựu quân nhân thuộc nhiều quân binh chủng khác nhau đã có dịp gặp gỡ, hàn huyên và ôn lại những kỷ niệm quân ngũ. Nhiều người không giấu được xúc động khi nhắc đến những đồng đội đã nằm xuống hoặc vẫn còn mất tích sau chiến tranh.
Hơn nửa thế kỷ đã trôi qua kể từ biến cố tháng Tư năm 1975, nhưng Ngày Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa vẫn là một dấu mốc thiêng liêng đối với cộng đồng người Việt tự do trên khắp thế giới. Đây không chỉ là dịp để tưởng nhớ những người đã phục vụ trong quân ngũ, mà còn là cơ hội để thế hệ trẻ hiểu thêm về lịch sử, về những hy sinh của cha ông và về hành trình đi tìm tự do của người Việt tị nạn.
Từ những người lính năm xưa từng chiến đấu nơi chiến trường đến thế hệ trẻ hôm nay được sinh ra và trưởng thành trên đất Mỹ, Ngày Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa tiếp tục là nhịp cầu kết nối các thế hệ người Việt tự do, cùng gìn giữ lịch sử, văn hóa và những giá trị mà cha ông đã hy sinh để bảo vệ.
Buổi lễ kết thúc vào buổi trưa cùng ngày trong tinh thần đoàn kết, tri ân và tưởng niệm, khẳng định rằng sự hy sinh của những người lính Việt Nam Cộng Hòa sẽ mãi được ghi nhớ trong lòng các thế hệ mai sau.
